Such intricate the name of the exhibit is the reason that came to the Museum from the banks of the Neva river, on which is situated one of the centers of world draughts – the city of St. Petersburg.
It is known from history that during the reign of Catherine II in St. Petersburg was the capital of the Russian Empire and in their wealth, magnificence and beauty of the architecture was compared with the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra. Comparison of St. Petersburg with the ancient city was the cause of his figurative name for the Northern Palmyra.
Checkers fell in the Crimean Museum in 2009. It is a gift of the President of the Section-64 world draughts Federation Vladimir Langin, who brought them from their homeland.
